After reading “This Is Me Letting You Go” by Heidi Priebe, I felt so deeply touched. It made me think about love, endings, and moving forward. Inspired by the emotions it stirred, I decided to write this poem “This Is Me Letting You Go Poem“, a heartfelt reflection on saying goodbye and finding strength in acceptance. I hope you like this 2024 version.

This Is Me Letting You Go
This is me accepting that you’re leaving,
Acknowledging there’s no further plea to make,
No angle left, no bargain I could wage,
To change your mind, to make you stay.
This is my subtle resignation to our downfall,
The crack between our hearts turned into a valley,
Engulfing us, accepting what I couldn’t bridge,
This is me letting you go.
Knowing we don’t get a do-over,
Not on our last night together,
Nor on the moments we started to drift apart,
This is me knowing we don’t get to go back.
Accepting that I’m going to miss you,
Feeling your absence in every corner,
Seeing you everywhere,
This is me letting you go.
Realizing life goes on,
That someday I’ll love differently,
That changes and beginnings await,
This is me knowing we’re going to grow old.
Understanding I have to let you go,
No matter how much I love you,
This is me doing what’s right,
This is me letting you go.
